We’re celebrating Porsche’s return to Le Mans by paying tribute to the race car that gave Porsche its first overall win at the race – the iconic 917.
Choosing to frame a plain body against an ethereal white backdrop, we didn’t feel the need to overcomplicate the effortlessly simple design that makes the 917 the embodiment of the French endurance race.
“Le Mans belongs to Porsche and Porsche belongs to Le Mans.” (Andreas Seidl, Porsche racing team director)
Well, after a long and brutal Detroit winter, racing season is back! I kicked off the year with my first trip to the 12 Hours of Sebring, which in it’s current incarnation is host to the second race in the Patron sponsored North American Endurance Cup and the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
For half a century spring breakers have flocked to this WWII Air Force base for a race once around the clock, incredibly nice weather, and healthy dose of debauchery.
Check out some photos which I had a ton of fun taking after the here!
Our pals over at INK spent some time at a vintage gasser show a couple months ago, they had mentioned they’d probably come away with some shots for us, but I could never have expected what they’ve delivered here. It’s hard to believe these are even photos! Removing the backgrounds really accentuates the awesome profiles and super high ride heights on these beasts. The signature hand painted graphics also benefit from the lack of visual competition usually found at car events.
There is talk of some limited edition prints, so stay tuned! Until then, read on to check them out.

Took my first trip down to Columbus, Ohio for the Goodguys 16th PPG Nationals this past weekend. It was well worth the 3.5 hour drive, car shows like this always bring out a great mix of cars and people. The weather was perfect, the cars where awesome, and I fell madly in love with a rented Canon 6D and f/1.2 85mm Lens. I hope you have as much fun checking out these photos as I had taking them! 🙂
I’ve got my annual Pikes Peak fever right now. Sebastien Loeb’s record shattering assault on the freshly completed all asphalt iteration of the hill climb seems to have stirred quite a lot of attention. I’ve added a few of my other favorite clips, including a really cool segment from Hot Rod covering Jess Neal and his bad ass 71 Plymouth Barracuda.
