’68 Ford Mustang Illustration by Stuart Macey
The second in Stuart Macey’s “School Boy Dreams” series. Pretty sure Steve McQueen only had a few more lines of dialogue than this beauty when they co-starred in Bullitt. Rendered in his hatch style, which he has (neurotically) perfected for silkscreen printing on cotton.

There really is no modern equivalent of 1960s European coupés. Their stance and proportions beautifully convey a machine which begs to be driven, but their line work maintains a sense of class and elegance missing from today’s boy racers. I’m convinced some one could pull this off in an A or B segment car, maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic. The GTA is easily in my top 10 cars list.

1000 miles of hoonage on Italian public roads. The Mille Miglia is one of those legendary events which sits proudly atop the motor sport Mt Olympus with Targa Floria, Le Mans, Baja 1000, Pikes Peak, Indy 500, Monte Carlo Grand Prix…I feel an entire series of T-Shirts coming on 😉
While the Porsche 550 never won the Mille Miglia, it is one of the events where it earned it’s “Giant Killer” reputation. It worked as well on the streets as it did at the track, and it proved that a light weight agile car could hold it’s own against the V-12 monsters of it’s day. Hans Herrmann piloted #351 into the history books with an exclamation point when he successfully put the car under the barriers of a rail road crossing with a fast approaching train in his periphery. Luckily he had opted for a version without the roll hoop!
